Welcome to Cleveland Steel Container Corporation

 

I’ve decided to re-write my opening statement for our website.  I have never been very comfortable with the typical horn-tooting blather that our old advertising agency had written for us.  I don’t care how good your company is, it can never live up to the expectation levels on quality, delivery, etc., etc. that they put out there for you.  What I’m trying to keep Cleveland Steel Container out of are those situations we all know about where we have been waiting on hold for 20 minutes while the tape is telling you over and over again how the company you’re calling puts the customer first – yeah right.  By the time they answer, their recorded message has done more harm than good. 

We’re trying to get beyond being “first in quality, service, and delivery.”  These are ego driven statements and we don’t kid ourselves about them anymore.  We admit that no one can be “first” all the time.  What we are though is a darn good company that makes a darn good product.  We put a lot of time and money into training to continuously improve our service and quality – and mechanical innovation.  We want our people to feel passionate about Cleveland Steel Container and committed to doing their best to serve our customers. 

If 40+ years in business is worth anything, I think it proves that we have a good concept and that it works.  However, to properly describe the company we would like to go further - reliability, accountability, integrity, consistency, and honesty.  First, reliability: we work hard to make our factory maintenance world class.  We only run one shift so the people and the machinery don’t get beat up.  We have five plants (soon to be six with a brand new one in Kilgore, Texas), so if there ever was a problem with one, our product could be made at the others.  Second, accountability: if we goof we will admit it – and correct it.  We are responsible for our product and our actions.  Third, integrity: I used to be in business with a guy that said, “If the flim don’t get you, the flam will.”  That describes what we are not.  A culture of integrity is our most important attribute.  Fourth, consistency: meaning that time after time, order after order, CSC will do our best to deliver consistent, dependable service and quality.  And last, honesty:  for those who remember the pail industry price fixing scandal back in the 80’s – CSC was the only company in our industry NOT involved.  And just one more thing: friendliness.  All our people are just like Florida oranges – hand picked.  That’s our culture at CSC.  Yes, we’ve laid a few eggs along the way, but we’ve learned a lot and gained a lot of practical field experience.  Our teachers have been our customers – that’s why we continue to listen to them everyday.  As a supplier, we want to be part of your solution, not part of your problem.
