Lancaster UN Pail Business is Moving to CSC

Dear Lancaster Customer,

As you know, Cleveland Steel Container acquired Lancaster Container in September 2024. Since then, the Cleveland Steel team has been minimally involved in Lancaster’s manufacturing, sales, and pail products as we strive to maintain the Lancaster brand identity.

Lancaster’s main product is producing non-regulated steel pails for roof coatings, fasteners, and railroad spikes. In contrast, most of CSC’s pails are UN-rated and are mainly sold to customers that package solvents, adhesives, and general paint and coatings.

In reviewing Lancaster’s operations, we have determined that they are better equipped to produce only non-regulated pails. About 15 years ago, CSC made significant investments in machinery and technology to produce the highest-quality UN-rated pails in the industry. We call this our Triplex® Technology, which enables us to make a safer, stronger UN-rated steel pail.

For this reason, we have decided to transfer all of Lancaster’s UN-rated business to a CSC manufacturing plant.  This will allow Lancaster to focus on producing non-regulated pails and CSC to provide you with a Triplex® UN rated pail. 

There are some minor differences between the Lancaster and CSC steel pail. The most significant difference is the exterior coating. Lancaster does not have a spray booth; therefore, they roll coat the exterior paint, which leaves a non-painted ear and side seam, vs. CSC, which sprays the exterior paint, which does coat the ears and side seam.
